How long will a divorce take?

The earliest a divorce can be completed is six months after the date the petition for dissolution was served on the responding spouse, if this is an uncontested or default divorce. However, in situations where the other spouse contests certain issues regarding property division, support or child custody it is not clear how soon the divorce can be completed. The process can be extensive. The length of time will be based on how cooperative the parties are the complexities of a particular relationship.
